How M&M Farm Came to Be

Every great adventure has a story, and M&M Farm is no exception.
For most of my career, I worked in corporate banking. After spending 25 years in the banking industry, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life. In 2023, I left the corporate world to join my husband, Mike, full-time at our family business, M&M Excavating LLC.
While I loved building our excavation business together, there was another passion that had always been a part of who I am—animals.
My love for animals started long before M&M Farm was ever an idea. I was born on a dairy farm and spent countless hours growing up at my grandparents’ working farm. Some of my favorite memories were made around cows, tractors, barns, and fields. In high school, I worked on a local dairy farm milking cows and was an active member of FFA, where I learned even more about agriculture and the importance of caring for animals.
Even as life became busy with careers and business, that passion never went away.
In 2025, I decided it was finally time to add a few chickens to our property. What started as a small flock quickly became much more than that. I began with Silkies and Polish chickens before adding a few other breeds along the way. Our chickens free-range almost every day, come running when they’re called, and spend much of their time following me around the farm. They each have their own personalities and never fail to make me smile.
Then came 2026—the year M&M Farm truly began to take shape.
In March, two miniature cows made the long trip from Mississippi to their new home in Sheffield, Massachusetts. Mac and Mater arrived as strangers but quickly became best friends. Watching their personalities grow has been one of the most rewarding experiences. Mac is a little more cautious and likes to take his time getting to know people, while Mater has never met a stranger and is always ready for attention.
Not long after, Murphy, our miniature donkey, joined the crew. Murphy has a personality all his own. He loves attention, happily follows people wherever they go, and keeps everyone entertained with his playful antics.
Of course, no farm would be complete without Maddie, our loyal dog. She takes her job of supervising the farm very seriously and makes sure everyone—people and animals alike—stays in line.
What started as a way to reconnect with my agricultural roots has grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined. M&M Farm has become a place where people can slow down, connect with animals, and enjoy experiences that are becoming harder to find in today’s busy world.
Whether you’re visiting to cuddle Mac and Mater, spend time with Murphy, meet our friendly flock of chickens, or simply enjoy a peaceful day on the farm, we’re excited to share this little piece of our life with you.
Thank you for being part of our journey. We can’t wait to see where this adventure takes us next.
